Notarization is the process whereby a Notary certifies a document. It is done so after a notary public has verified the signer and the document is completed. A signing agent is a public notary who has taking an additional course and certification for loan closing documents. A lender, title company, or escrow service may hire a signing agent to handle getting documents delivered, signed, or processed efficiently and on time. Yes, although we are sometimes able to accommodate walk in clients it is preferable to book an appointment in advance in order to ensure a Notary will be available to see you.
One of the Notary’s fundamental duties is to properly identify his or her client. This requirement is laid down by our practice rules and legislation. Please have a valid for of identification.
This will depend on the location and quantity of the documents being notarized. Our notaries will be happy to discuss this with you prior to your appointment (Please note it will often be necessary to see the document(s) in advance in order to provide an accurate fee quote).
We will come to you at a place that is convenient for you. This can be your home or office, a restaurant, or even a nursing home, hospital, or federal, state or county correctional facility. If you prefer to come to our La Jolla office during business hours, this can be arranged by appointment. No, if proper identification is present, along with the necessary filled-out documents needed to be notarized, we may not deny services. However, if there is not a present identification, or completly filled out documents, we may deny services.
By law it is required to complete the documents at the time of notarization. It stops fraud because another person can alter the document in an unfavorable way that the signer did not intend to sign.
